The Proposal Development Specialist is responsible for the end-to-end management of Request for Proposal (RFP) and Request for Information (RFI) responses. This role plays a critical part in developing strategic, customer-focused proposals to support local, mid-market, and national sales initiatives across various lines of business, including medical, Medicare, prescription drug, and specialty services. The specialist will collaborate with Sales and subject matter experts (SMEs) to craft proposals that effectively communicate our value proposition, ensuring alignment with corporate and client-specific strategies.
Key Responsibilities
The Proposal Development Specialist is responsible for the end-to-end management of Request for Proposal (RFP) and Request for Information (RFI) responses. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage detailed project plans for proposal responses, ensuring timely delivery and resource coordination.
- Analyze proposal criteria, addendum documents, and customer requirements to tailor responses effectively.
- Utilize Qvidian or similar database applications to pre-populate and refine proposal responses.
- Facilitate strategy meetings with sales teams and SMEs to define proposal objectives, resolve logistical challenges, and implement strategic actions.
- Serve as a consultative partner to the sales team, advising on proposal strategies and messaging.
- Act as the central point for content collection and collaboration, ensuring proposal alignment with customer needs.
- Draft, edit, and finalize proposal content, transforming SME input into compelling, customized responses.
- Ensure all responses comply with solicitation requirements, regulatory guidelines, and company style standards.
- Monitor amendments, changes, and compliance requirements throughout the proposal process.
- Oversee quality control, ensuring proposals are client-focused, clear, and aligned with corporate messaging.
- Coordinate hard copy submissions, maintain detailed records, and manage database documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 2-4 years of experience managing and writing complex, high-profile RFPs/RFIs in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills to convey sales strategies to diverse stakeholders.
- Effective facilitation and presentation abilities, with a demonstrated ability to influence and build consensus.
- Proficiency in coordinating resources and implementing process improvements.
- Detail-oriented with a deep understanding of corporate objectives and messaging.
- Proven project management skills, with the ability to maintain target deadlines and develop contingency plans.
- Ability to collaborate effectively on joint proposals and cross-functional projects.
- Experience leading proposal development efforts and managing multiple deadlines.
