Position Title: Executive Officer (XO)

INTRODUCTION AND POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Executive Officer (XO) is located at the IADC Office of the Director and receives guidance, direction, and tasking directly from the Director. The XO assists with planning, organizing, and implementing college operations and mission execution. The primary purpose of this position is to support the Director in three primary ways listed below. Evening and weekend requirements are common and should be anticipated.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Advise the Director on college operations and mission execution across different departments.
· Coordinate with IADC departments to provide the Director with a comprehensive understanding of the current situation.
· Advise the Director on interactions with the Inter-American Defense Board and its delegates.
· Coordinate engagements with US and foreign dignitaries, including preparation for distinguished visitors and foreign travel.
· Supervise and coordinate communications and taskings from the IADB and external entities.
· Manage tasking/tracking systems for correspondences and requests for the Director's signature or action.
· Attend required meetings and college functions to ensure proper coordination and timeliness of related correspondence.
· Coordinate with the Protocol section on official invitations.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR RECRUITMENT
Education
· Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Experience
· Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within a military or academic environment.
Language Skills
· Must have English writing and speaking. Highly desired Spanish or Portuguese writing and speaking at an intermediate level. Desired French
Competencies
· Strong organizational and communication skills.
· Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
· Experience coordinating with high-level officials and dignitaries.
· Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
TRAVELLING
· Additional travel may be required based on the needs of the College.
WORK SCHEDULE
· Availability during required hours to support outlined responsibilities.
· Remote work may be authorized by the supervisor when appropriate.
· Official holidays of the Board are non-working days.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
· This position qualifies for US tax reimbursement for US and permanent residents. The salary for US and permanent residents is $57,889-$67,153 plus tax reimbursement, with a pensionable salary of $73,053-$85,716.
· The IADB offers Health and Life Insurance, a pension plan, two weeks of paid vacation, and ten days of sick leave.
· This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week.
