About This Position
The Accounting team is looking for an experienced professional possessing the right blend of technical, analytical and collaborative skills to execute a variety of operational accounting and financial reporting tasks related to areas that include, but are not limited to, the treasury portfolio (fixed income securities, money market funds, borrowings, and derivatives), development-related investments (loans, bonds, equities and guarantees) and financial reporting tasks (information statement – management discussion and analysis and financial statements and sustainability and climate-related reporting).
The Accounting function is rapidly growing due to business growth and increased complexity, creating an exciting opportunity to apply accounting and finance knowledge and be part of process automation and reengineering while working in a dynamic and multicultural environment.

What you’ll do
- Analyze and assess the accounting and financial reporting implications of development-related investment transactions in IDB Invest’s pipeline and other activities or business events and document findings for review.
- Collaborate to understand and document the operational implications of new products or product features.
- Reconcile and review financial reports, from basic to complex, on a routine basis. Collaborate with other team members to review, research, and present solutions to reconciliation issues.
- Work with foreign subsidiaries to prepare consolidation adjustment entries for the group reporting.
- Support in the preparation of annual financial close related supporting schedules and financial statements and related reports of IDB Invest and its funds under administration.
- Support system implementation projects and contribute to process redesign and spreadsheet automation to improve efficiency by collaborating within the Accounting team and other Corporate functions.
- Participate in accounting and financial reporting assessments, support and document the related technical research for implementation of current and future accounting pronouncements.
- Participate in sustainability and climate-related reporting assessments for implementation of new and existing reporting disclosures.
- Support the Accounting team to address the needs of internal and external auditors
- Education: Master’s degree in accounting, business administration, finance, systems information or a related field required.
- Experience: You have at least 5 years of relevant professional experience working in the accounting and finance field. Applied working knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and accounting procedures. Big four accounting experience preferred.
- Languages: Fluency in English with a working knowledge of one other IDB Group language (Spanish, French, or Portuguese) is a plus.
- Citizenship: No requirements
- Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
- International consultant: Full-Time, 12 months (up to 36 months).
