About This Position
We are looking for a driven professional with extensive experience in the public and private sector to perform as a Financial Sector Senior Consultant. As such, you will contribute to the Division’s efforts in the design and execution of strategic initiatives in the LAC region as well as financial public sector operations in Brazil.
You will work in the Connectivity, Markets and Finance Division part of the Institutions for Development Department (IFD/CMF). This team works to strengthen the capacity of the public financial sector to mobilize resources and catalyze capital for development. We focus on effective capital market development and innovative financial structuring and solutions to facilitate private investment and ensure inclusive and sustainable development.

About This Position
We are looking for a driven professional with extensive experience in the public and private sector to perform as a Financial Sector Senior Consultant. As such, you will contribute to the Division’s efforts in the design and execution of strategic initiatives in the LAC region as well as financial public sector operations in Brazil.
You will work in the Connectivity, Markets and Finance Division part of the Institutions for Development Department (IFD/CMF). This team works to strengthen the capacity of the public financial sector to mobilize resources and catalyze capital for development. We focus on effective capital market development and innovative financial structuring and solutions to facilitate private investment and ensure inclusive and sustainable development.
What you’ll do
- Support in the identification, preparation, and delivery of innovative financial structures and initiatives in support to the development of the financial sectors of the LAC Region.
- Participate in the design and implementation of innovative financial instruments and structures to foster private sector mobilization across strategic sectors, with a focus on sustainable-linked finance.
- Participate and collaborate in the identification, design and execution of CMF loan and technical assistance programs in Brazil.
- Provide technical support to, and engage in, technical dialogue with government institutions in Brazil and other countries in the region, providing analytical and advisory services as requested by the Division Chief.
- Assist in the development of high-level policy dialogue, knowledge exchange effort to strengthen strategic partnerships with key development stakeholders in the LAC region, with a focus on Brazil.
- Prepare clear, concise, and well-structured briefing materials related to the areas described above.
- Provide technical support, and undertake other activities, as necessary, as requested by the Division Chief.
- Education: Master’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Economics, Finance, Public Affairs, Engineering, Mathematics, or other relevant field to the responsibilities of the role.
- Experience: : (i) At least 12 years of relevant work experience in finance, economics, or related fields in the Brazilian public and private sector. (ii) Expertise and track record in the Brazilian financial sector. (ii) Experience with multilateral organizations in the design and/or execution of financial sector operations or sustainable finance initiatives in Brazil or Latin America and the Caribbean.
- Languages: Proficiency in English and Portuguese (spoken and written) is required. Proficiency in other Bank official language (Spanish or French) is preferable.
- Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.
- Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
