About This Position
We are looking for a climate finance expert with background in MDB operations and strong knowledge of mitigation to support the IDB’s coordination with other MDBs on a range of climate matters.
You will work for the Climate Change Solutions Division (CCS), which is part of the Climate Change and Sustainability Sector (CSD). This team is responsible for developing the IDB’s strategy, advising senior management, supporting operational teams, conducting research, and coordinating with other MDBs on climate matters. The IDB is now serving as chair of the MDB Climate Change Mitigation Working Group (MWG). The IDB will also contribute to IDB Invest’s chairing of the climate heads in the second half of 2025.

The IDB is now serving as chair of the MDB Climate Change Mitigation Working Group (MWG). The IDB will also contribute to IDB Invest’s chairing of the climate heads in the second half of 2025.
What you’ll do
- Support the IDB’s overall participation in MDB climate change working groups, ranging across climate heads, senior climate advisors, and various technical groups (mitigation, adaptation, Paris Agreement alignment, reporting) to ensure consistent messaging by convening pre-meetings to agree on IDB’s position and drafting talking points.
- Provide technical support to MWG by advising on specific technical matters/products, including revisions to methodologies, in coordination with facilitators and the climate finance tracking team, and by consolidating MDB inputs and presenting conclusions and recommendations.
- Provide planning, logistical, for the IDB’s chairing of the MWG and support to IDB Invest’s chairing of the climate heads, including preparing agendas and minutes, maintaining MDB contact lists, sending invitations, updating and maintaining common file repositories, and supporting facilitation of MWG and subgroup meetings.
- Other related tasks as required.
- Education: Masters degree in Economics, International Development, or a discipline related to climate change or the environment.
- Experience: 10 years of relevant professional experience. Exceptional organizational and team skills. Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines. Experience with multilateral development banks. Experience with climate change and/or sustainability issues, including UNFCCC processes.
- Languages:
- Proficiency in English and one of the other Bank official languages (Spanish, French or Portuguese) is required.
- Citizenship:
- You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.
- Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
