Essential Functions for the Dispatcher Include:
- Scheduling drivers to make freight deliveries
- Communicating with customer service representatives about freight details, delivery or pickup times, and special handling requests.
- Planning pre-determined routes and accommodating route changes as needed.
- Maintaining records of dispatched calls, driver routes, route changes, as well as delivery and pickup times.
- Keeping track of transportation regulations and laws to ensure that truck drivers comply.
- Reviewing driver logs, including dispatched calls and arrival times.
- Monitoring truck repairs and maintenance schedules.
- Logging customer shipping schedules and complaints.
Minimum Required Qualifications for the Dispatcher Include:
- Must be customer service oriented. A
- Able to communication in a clear and concise manner both verbally and written.
- Previous dispatch experience is preferred.
- Must have good problem solving skills and able to make decisions.
