Housing Stabilization Coach
Sioux Falls, SD
Duties:
- Counsel participants individually, with family, or in other small groups regarding plans for meeting needs, and aid client to mobilize inner capacities and environmental resources to improve social functioning.
- Refer clients to community resources and other organizations. Develop and maintain service networks with collaborating agencies, providers, and other entities to include, but not limited to, the department of social services, police station, county health nurse, clinics, early head start and head start programs, etc.
- Calculates rent based on the Department of Housing and Urban Development formula.
- Interview applicants with problems such as personal and family adjustments, finances, employment, food, clothing, housing, and physical and mental impairments to determine nature and degree of problem.
- Perform Money Management counseling. Provide information on basic life skills.
- Determine client's eligibility for financial assistance. Perform Protective Payee Services for participants. Make payment arrangements with creditors. Maintain records with participants.
- Assist family in finding and assessing appropriate childcare.
- Assist participants to abide by lease agreements and property's rules and guidelines.
- Access and record participant and community resource information. Document all case management sessions and update participant case file.
- Maintain ongoing knowledge of existing and new agency programs for low-income persons.
- Promote positive public relations, seek out opportunities to educate the public and be available to speak at service groups when given those opportunities.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Two (2) years experience and/or training working with human services or social work or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- BA or BS degree in human services or social work preferred.
Hours / FLSA Status / Grade 4:
- 40 hours per week (Nonexempt position).
- $17.44 - 24.62 per hour, based on education and experience.
