What are the responsibilities and job description for the Railcar Repair (Carman) position at Inter-Rail Transport of Benicia?
Responsible for freight car repair and pre-trip inspection. Will participate in inspecting, repairing and maintaining railcars consistent with industry standards, company requirements, federal and AAR/FRA requirements. Will be required to use hand tools, power tools, welding and cutting equipment and measuring instruments as well as operate forklifts, torches, and welders.
- Make weld repairs on railcars (training provided)
- Inspect car components for compliance with FRA and AAR standards
- Identify or analyze defective components and determine the necessary corrective action
- Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety and operations
