Background:
This position supports the discovery, implementation, and sustainment of a comprehensive ServiceNow suite for a dedicated Department of Defense (DoD) community. This effort has significant DoD leadership visibility and requires the Product Owner to guide the delivery of a multi-product solution that spans IT Service Management (ITSM), IT Operations Management (ITOM), Hardware Asset Management (HAM), Software Asset Management (SAM), and Human Resources Service Delivery (HRSD). The Product Owner will serve as a key liaison between stakeholders and the implementation team, driving alignment on priorities and ensuring that the solution meets both operational needs and strategic objectives. Success in this role demands a highly collaborative, solutions-oriented professional who excels in influencing cross-functional teams, ensuring contract compliance, enhancing user experience, and maintaining focus on program objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the creation, refinement, and execution of the ServiceNow product roadmap, ensuring alignment with DoD stakeholder priorities and program goals
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including functional experts, developers, quality assurance testers, UI/UX designers, and other cross-functional team members, to capture and prioritize requirements
- Facilitate requirements gathering sessions, document functional designs (e.g., user stories, workflows, and data models), and translate high-level objectives into actionable deliverables
- Act as the primary point of contact for product backlog management, including defining, grooming, and prioritizing user stories
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, secure, and compliant ServiceNow modules that address ITSM, ITOM, HAM, SAM, and HRSD requirements
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and sprint reviews to maintain momentum and ensure transparency
- Work with stakeholders to validate functionality, facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT), and coordinate feedback loops to refine and improve the solution
- Monitor program progress, provide status updates, and generate insights to influence product decisions and foster continuous improvement
- Serve as a champion of Agile best practices, promoting collaboration, adaptability, and iterative delivery in line with DoD mission requirements
- Support training and change management efforts to maximize user adoption and ensure successful transition to sustainment
Requirements:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering)
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager in technology projects of similar scope and complexity, with a preference for DoD or federal programs
- Certifications:
- Current PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) or equivalent Agile certification (e.g., Scrum Product Owner, Agile Leadership)
- ITIL certification or ServiceNow-specific certification(s) preferred
- Technical Proficiency:
- Hands-on experience with ServiceNow implementations, including ITSM, ITOM, HAM, SAM, and HRSD modules
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and tools (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow Agile Development)
- Familiarity with Human-Centered Design principles and their application in software development
- Skills:
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization
- Proven ability to prioritize competing demands, consolidate large volumes of information, and make data-driven decisions
- Experience in coordinating across functional teams to deliver secure and compliant solutions under strict deadlines
- Clearance:
- Active Security clearance required; eligibility for higher-level clearance is a plus
