Job Overview
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will oversee the financial operations, strategies, and risk management of the bank, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and alignment with the institution’s strategic goals. The CFO will be a key member of the executive leadership team, driving financial planning, profitability, and sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and implement financial strategies to achieve the bank’s goals.
- Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and board of directors, offering insight into the financial implications of business decisions.
- Provide financial forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis to guide executive decision-making.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDIC, OCC, FRB).
- Oversee all regulatory reporting, including call reports and ALM reporting.
- Maintain a strong internal control environment to ensure financial integrity and compliance.
Treasury & Asset/Liability Management
- Manage the bank’s liquidity, investments, and interest rate risk.
- Provide oversight for capital adequacy, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and strategic objectives.
- Collaborate with the ALCO (Asset Liability Committee) to manage balance sheet risks effectively.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and mentor the finance, accounting, and treasury teams to build a high-performing department.
- Foster a collaborative environment to support innovation, accountability, and professional growth.
Strategic Growth Initiatives
- Evaluate potential mergers, acquisitions, and other expansion opportunities.
- Partner with the executive team to optimize cost structures and enhance operational efficiency.
- Drive profitability analysis across products, services, and business lines.
Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
- CPA or CFA designation preferred.
Experience
- 15 years of banking experience
- 10 years of progressive leadership experience in financial management, with at least 5 years in a banking or financial services environment.
- Experience in mergers and acquisitions and investor relations
- Executive experience with SaaS business models and their associated revenue recognition
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements for community banks, advanced accounting, regulatory issues, and tax planning.
- Demonstrated experience managing a balance sheet in a banking environment, with expertise in asset/liability management.
