Our Company: InterAgency Inc. is a minority-owned DC-based small business specializing in permit management, environmental consulting, and other regulatory consulting services. Since 2011, InterAgency has led permitting efforts for some of the largest infrastructure projects in the DC Metro region.

 

Description: InterAgency is seeking a full-time Traffic Designer to support large civil infrastructure program(s) in Washington DC, Virginia, and Maryland. In this role, you will work as part of an experienced project management team to design traffic control plans, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of traffic through construction zones and other areas requiring traffic management, for projects in DC, VA, and MD. The Traffic Design Engineer must be proactive in communicating with prime teaming partners and client stakeholders. This role is for someone who is detail-focused, organized, and self-motivated.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering
  • Over 3 years of highway and / or traffic engineering experience
  • Software Skills: MS Office, MicroStation, AutoCAD
  • Exceptional communication skills and effective organizational abilities
  • Experience with DDOT, MVA, and VDOT a plus
  • EIT or PE preferred.

 Specific Job Duties:

  • Provide highway, civil and traffic design services for highways, bridges, traffic, planning and safety projects.
  • Perform engineering design tasks for transportation projects from concept development to preliminary and final design, including horizontal and vertical alignment, roadway cross sections, maintenance and protection of traffic, drainage design, stormwater management, signing, pavement markings, traffic signals, ITS, etc.
  • Perform field inspections of existing or on-going construction project sites.
  • Prepare and check design calculations.
  • Work with project teams to perform quality work within established budgets and schedule requirements.
  • Other duties assigned by supervisor in support of permit management operations.

Employment Conditions:

  • Type: Full-time, exempt employment 
  • Flexible work location between 2 offices: D.C. and Rockville, MD.
  • Must be able to reliably commute to client locations within the DC Metro area.
  • Schedule: Hybrid work (2-3 days in office, 1-2 days remote).
  • Regular business hours, 8:00 am to 5:00 PM (EST). 

 Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodation.
  • Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing, and typing. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. 

 Compensation and Benefits:

  • Annual salary: $85,000-$100,000, commensurate with experience.
