JOB DESCRIPTION
Objective/Summary:
The Accountant I is responsible for performing a variety of internal control activities over the monitoring and administration of general ledger accounts and internal deposit accounts. Responsibilities include accounts payable related duties, preparing account reconciliations, analysis of recorded financial activity, reviewing account reconciliations prepared by other team members, preparing journal entries, initiating wire transfers for internal bank operations and supporting other operational activities within the Finance department such as financial reporting and financial accounting.
Essential Functions:
- Prepares vendor payment processing, coding, check distribution, credit card bill processing, employee reimbursements, daily ACH processing/expense check funding, and monthly rent wires.
- Prepares periodic reconciliation of assigned asset and liability general ledger accounts and internal deposit accounts,
- Coordinates effectively with other business units and departments to research and resolve reconciling differences within policy timeframes,
- Prepares journal entries to record financial activity related to the operations of the finance department and the bank,
- Initiates funds transfers for the banks operations and correspondent bank account funds management protocols,
- Prepares a periodic analysis of revenues and expenses of the bank,
- Develops and maintains procedural documentation for assigned activities,
- Supports the team during audits and examinations of the departments documentation and financial records,
- Supports other essential functions within the department such as financial reporting and financial accounting functions as assigned and in a backup role during the absence of other team members,
- Understands and applies general banking guidelines and accounting and bookkeeping principles,
- Makes recommendations regarding improving operations and financial position of company,
- Interacts in a professional, courteous manner with customers, co-workers, vendors, etc.,
- Maintains strict confidentiality guidelines in accordance with Company policy,
- Demonstrates knowledge and expertise of general bank accounting procedures and support the Companys overall mission, standards, policies and procedures, and confidentiality guidelines,
- Maintains personal grooming and company dress and appearance standards,
- Maintains company attendance standards,
- Other tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors degree in accounting or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Two years of accounting or auditing experience.
- A valid drivers license.
- Satisfactory credit and criminal background check.
SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Skills:
- Hard Skills: Proficient in basic computer operations. Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel. Able to type efficiently.
- Soft Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail , organization skills, can-do attitude, problem solving skills, decision-making skills sense of urgency, and strong work ethic.
- Typical Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to talk and hear.
- Requires sitting for an extending period with some walking, with some bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing
- Occasional light lifting not over 25lbs
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
