JOB DESCRIPTION
Objective/Summary:
The Portfolio Manager will work directly with Lenders, Credit Analyst, Loan Operations, and others to analyze new commercial credit opportunities, underwrite new or renewed credit exposure, and manage a portfolio of loans and other credit and depository relationships.
Essential Functions:
- Regularly attend client and prospect meetings and gather information necessary for underwriting credit opportunities.
- Prepare preliminary assessment of credit opportunities.
- Manage assigned portfolio of credits for which you will have primary portfolio management, monitoring and oversight responsibilities.
- Coordinate credit underwriting process and preparation of credit approval packages.
- Presents credit approval packages in conjunction with Lenders (Relationship Manager) at appropriate loan committees when necessary.
- Assist in negotiating loan agreements and drafting term sheets, commitment letters, and closing instructions to counsel, as requested by Relationship Managers.
- Manage past dues, renewals, and exceptions.
- Conduct site inspections, and review and approve construction draws when appropriate.
- Coordinate closing with Title Company, Counsel, and Borrower.
- Maintains an active role in the community by participation in community organizations/projects to improve the Bank’s visibility in the area.
- Understands and applies general banking guidelines and accounting and bookkeeping principles.
- Interacts in a professional, courteous manner with customers, co-workers, vendors, etc…
- Maintains strict confidentiality guidelines in accordance with Company policy.
- Demonstrates knowledge and expertise of general bank accounting procedures and support the Company’s overall mission, standards, policies and procedures, and confidentiality guidelines.
- Maintain personal grooming and company dress and appearance standards.
- Maintain company attendance standards.
- Other tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Minimum of Three years of credit analysis, portfolio management, or lending experience. Formal credit training is preferred but not required.
- Experience underwriting commercial real estate loans.
- Understanding of loan structuring needs and loan documentation requirements.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Satisfactory credit and criminal background check.
SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Skills:
- Hard Skills: Proficient in basic computer operations. Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel. Able to type efficiently.
- Soft Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail , organization skills, can-do attitude, problem solving skills, decision-making skills sense of urgency, and strong work ethic.
- Typical Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to talk and hear.
- Requires sitting for an extending period with some walking, with some bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing.
- Occasional light lifting not over 25lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
