Goal: Support the selection and analysis of investment vehicles for a predominantly international client base, primarily composed of Mexican individuals with investable assets below US$5 million.
Position Overview: As a Junior Investment Specialist (JIS) in our offshore and onshore private banking operation, the JIS will play a supporting role in providing specialized investment advice and strategic insights to corporations and high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs), with a focus on offshore vehicles. The JIS will be responsible for analyzing global financial markets, identifying investment opportunities, and supporting the execution of customized investment strategies within offshore jurisdictions, while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and financial standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Investment Strategy & Advisory:
o Understand the needs of Intercam Securities' client base including investment horizon, risk tolerance, investment objectives, tax status, citizenship, investment experience, and amount to be invested, in order to identify appropriate investment products.
o Develop and implement tailored investment strategies for clients in both offshore and domestic markets. o Provide expert advice on a variety of investment products, including equities, fixed income, alternative investments, private equity, and structured products.
o Advise clients on asset allocation, portfolio diversification, and risk management, taking into account offshore tax and regulatory implications.
o Dual registration is required. The candidate must be eligible and willing to obtain FINRA Series 7 and Series 66 licenses.
Market Analysis & Research:
o Conduct comprehensive research on global financial markets, offshore investment trends, and emerging opportunities.
o Monitor and analyze economic, political, and market developments impacting offshore markets and client portfolios.
o Prepare and present regular reports on market conditions, investment performance, and new opportunities.
o The JIS is also expected to gradually contribute to the firm’s monthly newsletter, providing market commentary and summaries of the performance of the largest mutual funds held by Intercam’s clients.
Client Relationship Management:
o Support Intercam’s team of investment advisors by providing timely investment ideas and fulfilling specific client requests to help build and maintain strong relationships with HNWIs, family offices, and corporate clients.
Proposals & Portfolio Reviews:
o Assist in the preparation of customized investment proposals, in collaboration with senior analysts.
o Coordinate with the trading desk and compliance team to ensure seamless execution and adherence to regulatory standards.
o Monitor portfolio performance and advise on rebalancing as needed based on market conditions and evolving client objectives.
Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management:
o Ensure compliance with all relevant offshore and onshore regulations, tax laws, and industry standards.
o Maintain a working knowledge of cross-border taxation, anti-money laundering (AML) policies, and know-your-client (KYC) procedures.
o Identify and manage risks associated with offshore investment portfolios.
Business Development:
o Support the firm’s growth efforts by identifying new business opportunities.
o Participate in marketing initiatives, client meetings, industry conferences, and other events to promote the firm’s offshore investment offerings.
Team Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing:
o Collaborate with internal teams including traders, analysts, compliance officers, and legal advisors.
o Share market insights and research findings to enhance client service and investment strategy development.
JIS should have the following qualifications & skills required for the position of Junior Investment Specialist:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field.
• Experience: 1–2 years of experience in wealth management, with a focus on investment products.
• Knowledge: Solid understanding of global markets, portfolio management, and offshore investment structures. Strong attention to detail.
• Technical Skills: Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools. Familiarity with Bloomberg, Refinitiv Eikon, or data visualization tools is a plus.
• Licensing: Must be willing and able to obtain the FINRA Series 7 and 66 licenses. Holding these licenses already is considered a strong plus.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex investment concepts clearly.
• Client Focus: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build long-term client relationships, particularly in cross-border contexts.
• Languages: Must be fluent in both Spanish and English written and spoken.
• Work Authorization: Must have permanent U.S. work authorization (OPT and temporary work visas are not accepted).
