Position Summary
Intercap Lending is seeking a skilled and motivated Underwriting Team Lead to oversee our underwriting team's daily operations and ensure accurate and efficient evaluation of mortgage loan applications. The Underwriting Team Lead will play a crucial role in managing a team of underwriters, providing guidance on complex cases, and collaborating with other departments to achieve high-quality underwriting outcomes. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of underwriting guidelines, and a commitment to maintaining excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage a team of underwriters, providing direction, training, and performance evaluations.
* Review and assess mortgage loan applications for adherence to underwriting guidelines, company policies, and regulatory standards.
* Analyze applicant financials, credit history, and property information to determine loan eligibility and risk assessment.
* Provide guidance to underwriters on complex loan scenarios and ensure consistent and accurate underwriting decisions.
* Collaborate with loan officers, processors, and other teams to gather additional information and documentation as needed.
* Stay updated on industry regulations and underwriting standards to ensure compliance.
* Develop and implement underwriting policies and procedures to maintain high-quality standards.
* Prepare reports and analysis on underwriting trends, performance metrics, and risk assessment.
Education and Experience
* Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or related field; relevant certifications are a plus.
* 5 years of experience in mortgage loan underwriting.
Skills and Competencies
* Strong understanding of underwriting guidelines, including conventional, FHA, VA, and USDA loans.
* Proficiency in analyzing financial statements, credit reports, and property appraisals.
