InterCare is searching for a part-time (24-hours/week) Student Health Center Coordinator to join our team at our new Otsego Health Center, 538 Washing Street, Otsego, MI 49078! Work Schedule
Primary hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Possesses a thorough understanding of medical office theory and practices typically acquired through a technical training program and/or extensive practical experience in a medical practice environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficient in electronic practice management systems.
- Ability to use clerical and numerical skills to perform job duties.
- Ability to generate letters, forms, and documents.
- Ability to perform data entry, run reports, and operate common office equipment.
Primary Accountability
Functions collaboratively with the Provider, the Health Center Manager, and the Director of Operations as a member of the Student Health Center’s leadership team. Performs the reception and registration function for the clinic.
Requirements:Description of Primary Duties & Responsibilities
1) Assumes overall responsibility for assigned Student Health Center functions.
- Coordinates daily flow and activities within the clinic including facility access
- Monitors and assesses all facility needs for the clinic. Coordinates needed repairs and develops compliance plans for facility, safety, and security deficiencies.
- Assists with the implementation and ongoing compliance with all organizational, administrative, and school-based program policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Prepares for and provides outreach at school sporting events, teacher meetings, parent/teacher conferences, and other school events.
- Prepares for and delivers periodic Medicaid outreach presentations.
- Assumes primary leadership and support for the Teen Advisory Committee.
- Coordinates periodic meetings of the Community Advisory Committee.
- Serves as primary liaison with the school district promoting awareness of services.
- Assists with data collection and reporting to meet school based program requirements.
2) Greets and assists patients in navigation of their visit.
- Assists patients and visitors with the sign in process and directs them to the appropriate area.
- Contacts other staff for further patient assistance as needed.
- Keeps patients informed of wait times and any delays in care.
- Deals effectively with difficult/emotional patient situations. Seeks assistance as needed.
3) Registers new and existing patients for their scheduled appointment.
- Enters patient demographic and insurance information into the electronic practice management system.
- Reviews pay source information to assure it is up to date and has been verified online at the time of the patient visit.
- Assesses the need for insurance enrollment, sliding fee eligibility, and state funded assistance programs. Assists with application process if appropriate or directs to enroller.
- Educates patients regarding financial responsibility and InterCare’s payment policies.
- Obtains signature(s) on all required forms.
- Schedules follow-up and walk-in appointments as requested.
4) Initiates the point of service payment/collection process.
- Collects patient copays.
- Creates receipts for payments collected.
- Arranges for patients to speak with financial counselor as needed.
5) Performs various clerical duties including scanning and faxing of documents and identification cards.
