What are the responsibilities and job description for the VP Commercial position at InterContinental Hotels Group?
Lead sales and on property marketing strategies and activates the IHG enterprise ‘system’ across the portfolio of 200 hotels including key owned and managed assets to drive and deliver top-line revenues of >$1bn annually. Sets direction to achieve near-term business performance whilst planning and aligning organizational resources to build long-term success and support the Strategy. Leads innovation across the commercial matrix in the areas of talent development, on-property sales & marketing processes and systems. Localizes global sales & revenue-management models for the market.
Your day to day
- Leads near-term sales and marketing revenue generation, setting annual objectives and strategic plans for key CTP hotels.
- Optimizes market performance monthly, ensuring sales and marketing activities drive revenues and meet budgeted targets of ~$50m.
- Acts as key liaison for stakeholders on trading and business performance, reporting on ROI and representing IHG in meetings.
- Oversees discretionary tactical activity, enhancing returns and ensuring stakeholder engagement in system fund spending.
- Directs Sub-Regional/On-Property Sales & Marketing for ~200 properties.
- Develops talent attraction and succession strategies to recruit 15,000 new S&M employees over three years.
- Sets Regional Sales & Revenue Management agenda, influencing global activities to meet market needs and adapting to emerging trends.
What we need from you
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a relevant field of work or an equivalent combination of education and work related experience.
- 12 years’ experience in Sales and Marketing within a branded service or retail industry including experience dealing with heavy weight customers, balancing company and customer requirements and demonstrating delivery of commercial results. Knowledge of the hospitality or travel industry desirable.
- Strategic planning capability, having had accountability for drawing up multi-year strategic plans and bringing them into action.
- Strong commercial acumen with proven success in sales & marketing activity returns. Exposure to integrated channel activity & optimization.
- Leadership of marketing and sales team on a national scale that encompasses broad experience and knowledge in all the disciplines of:
- On-property and Above-property and Intermediary sales & marketing; experience of multi-property S&M management and TPI Management; cross functional work with integrated sales and marketing
- Revenue Management practices, tools, systems & processes
- Creating and delivering integrated through-the-line campaign activity
- Performance driven marketing: analysis, appropriate action, metrics & reporting and use of market research & insight and understanding of loyalty, digital marketing & channel management.
- Financial & budgetary management and agency management
Location – Atlanta, GA; Our hybrid work structure is an expectation of three (3) days a week in office. This expectation may be adjusted to evolve with the changing needs of the business.
