What are the responsibilities and job description for the Restaurant Server position at InterContinental The Clement Monterey?
The Server will take food and beverage orders, and will oversee and maintain the cleanliness of the bar during & after his/her shift. Responsible to serve food and beverages in a timely manner, helping guests to have memorable experiences whenever they dine. Each Server's primary objective is to show our guests' quality service delivered with a smile each and every interaction The Server must be knowledgeable of food menu, spirits, cocktails and wine and with that knowledge, upsells, recommends menu items, and learns about the guest’s preferences. Must ensure that safety regulations are enforced, and supplies are maintained.
At all times Servers are expected to be attentive to our guest needs and making them feel welcome, comfortable, important and relaxed.
SCHEDULE: Primarily mornings. Must be able to work flexible schedule, weekends and holidays, based on business demands.
WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum 1-year serving experience, equivalent, or a combination of education and experience. Minimum of one-year customer service experience in a previous position, where the primary job duty is direct customer service, is required.
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE
- Understand hotel function and guest profiles.
- Knowledge of local area including restaurants, landmarks, shopping centers and or local attraction.
- Knowledge about spirits, cocktails, wine and more.
SKILLS
- Business communication skills both verbal and written in English.
- Interpersonal skills such as listening, smiling, relating, asking questions, teamwork, etc.
- Have the skill to manage multiple tasks at a time, maintain focus and structure under pressure.
- Have the skill to resolve conflicts with ease and professionalism to ensure maximum guest and associate satisfaction.
ABILITIES
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with both associates and guests to build trust and loyalty.
- Ability to maintain consistent positive energy, self-motivation, and passion for hospitality.
- Ability to keep hotel sensitive information confidential such as guest profiles, credit card information, etc.
- Ability to learn new software and computer systems.
- Ability to easily adapt to various situations, constant change, handle pressure and remain composed and focused.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Prolonged standing/walking for 8 hours. Ability to walk around the hotel, up and down stairs, stoop, kneel, lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and push and pull approximately 200 lbs.

The Restaurant Server will prepare food, drinks and will handle cleaning duties as well.
