Community Education Director Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate and visionary Community Education Director to join our team and lead our educational programming to new heights.

Position Overview

The Community Education Director (CED) will collaborate closely with our Christian and Jewish Spiritual Leaders to oversee and enhance the educational offerings within the IFFP community. This role encompasses the management of our Sunday School, Teen Group Program, and Coming of Age Program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement educational strategies consistent with IFFP’s mission and values, overseeing the Sunday School, Teen Group, and Coming of Age Program.
  • Design and update curriculum content, ensuring relevance, inclusivity, and alignment with the traditions of Judaism and Christianity.
  • Recruit, train, and support staff, interns, and volunteers involved in educational programs, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Coordinate with clergy and music director on the integration of educational content into Gatherings (worship services) and community events.
  • Cultivate innovative programming ideas to address the educational needs of diverse age groups within the community.
  • Communicate appropriately with families and community regarding upcoming educational and community initiatives
  • Collaborate with the Administrative Director on PR and communications efforts, supplying content for the website and social media platforms to promote educational events and initiatives.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Educational background in religion and education, with a preference for a Master’s Degree in Religion, Religious Education, or Education.
  • Experience in program management, as well as curriculum and lesson development within religious or educational settings.
  • Knowledge of Judaism or Christianity, with openness to learning more about these traditions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and community members.
  • Experience in recruiting, training, and coordinating volunteers.
  • Familiarity with virtual and hybrid educational environments, including proficiency in relevant technologies (Google Drive, Zoom, etc.).
  • Ability to mediate conflicts and provide constructive feedback in a respectful manner.
  • Comfort with public speaking and leading group discussions.
  • Creative mindset, with a willingness to adapt to changing needs and explore new approaches to education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing educational programs within interfaith or diverse religious communities.
  • Familiarity with both children and teen-level educational programming.
  • Experience in leadership roles within religious or spiritual communities.

We are seeking qualified candidates to begin work as soon as possible. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until the position is filled.

Compensation and Time Commitment

$30,000 – $42,000 commensurate with experience. This position is considered part-time, and while no firm number of hours are required weekly, a successful candidate should be able to commit 15-25 hours on an average week. IFFP runs its programs primarily during the school year (September – June), and candidates must be able to be present for Sunday Gatherings and Sunday School from 10 am-12 pm plus prep time on most Sundays during these months.
