What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fundraising Events Coordinator position at Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers (IVC)?
Overview:
Responsible for organizing a variety of fundraising activities and special projects that help develop the resources necessary for the Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers program to carry out its mission of serving isolated, frail and struggling neighbors.
The position will focus on the implementation of various fundraising events and plans; general public relations and community awareness activities; special projects and events; and developing and nurturing relationships with individuals, congregations, businesses, and other community groups.
Current fundraising events have included an annual Bowl-A-Thon, Chili Cook-Off, Community Dinner & Auction, Golf Outing, Spaghetti Dinner, & Winter Sweepstakes. The Events Coordinator is responsible for recruiting and supporting a committee of volunteers to help implement each of these events. Other special events include Volunteer Recognition Events, program Open Houses, large service activities and more.

High levels of physical and emotional energy contribute to success in this position. With a major event occurring nearly every other month, strong multi-tasking skills and an exceptional ability to keep track of many details are essential.
Candidate must be an excellent problem solver and work well as part of a team, patiently motivating committee members and program volunteers to fulfill tasks. Must have strong organizational skills and be very self-directed, initiating plans and following through on all details of projects. Position requires strong communication skills, strong writing and speaking abilities, and strong computer and technology skills. Must be comfortable asking others to get involved and to contribute to our work in the community. Public relations, fundraising, event planning, or non-profit experience is preferred. Commitment to the basic mission of the program is essential. A bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred.
Position Details:
The position requires a flexible schedule. Some assignments will need to be done outside of the office, including regular evening and occasional weekend work, as well as off-site events and activities. Job duties will include regular physical activity such as bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting objects less than 50 pounds.
While much of the day-to-day work is at a desk and on the phone, preparation for events also requires regular periods of activity that require a high level of stamina and significant physical work. The position also involves a lot of time in meetings.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
FUNDRAISING & EVENTS
1. Recruit, motivate, train and support committee members and individual volunteers, to help with a variety of fundraising events and special activities.
2. Help lead and support event committees, coordinating all event details including, but not limited to:
· Securing business sponsorships;
· Securing “in-kind” donations of supplies, prizes & printing;
· Production of publicity materials;
· Coordination of raffles, auctions, prizes, etc.;
· Volunteer assignments and scheduling;
· Event day venues, activities & implementation.
3. Coordinate annual appeals to individuals, local congregations, service organizations, and other special groups.
4. Oversee bulk mailings.
5. Assist with procuring the donation of special rewards and incentives for all volunteers.
6. Assist with Corporate Sponsorship Program, providing ongoing support & communications with existing sponsors and offering various opportunities to new donors.
7. Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date fundraising and donation records, as well as overseeing the processing of routine thank you letters.
PROGRAM OUTREACH
8. Develop and nurture contacts in the community to garner support for IVC.
9. Make community presentations to local congregations and other organizations, when needed.
10. Participate in local outreach events and networking opportunities, when needed.
11. Participate in all IVC events, activities and fundraisers, and promote them broadly.
12. Work with local media to help promote the mission and increase awareness of IVC, especially in conjunction with special events and activities.
13. Use social media and other tools to develop interest in IVC events and opportunities.
14. Other various duties as assigned.
Salary & Hours:
Salary based on experience and related skills. Full-time candidate preferred, but consideration will be given to strong part-time applicants as well.
