The position of On-Site Manager exists to ensure that the daily life and work of the Interfaith Works Supportive Shelter at Unity Commons is carried out in a way that ensures safety, professionalism, support and respect to all who come through our doors. Interfaith Works Supportive Shelter provides 24/7 shelter and support to individuals using a lowest barrier/highest access approach for those with the most complex mental health, behavioral health, physical health, and substance use challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Provide routine on-call coverage including nights, weekends, and holidays in rotation with other On-site Managers.
Facilitate daily staff huddle and fill in any needed gaps to better support front line staff on site, including working the floor when the shelter is understaffed.
Manage daily shelter operations and guide staff in setting appropriate boundaries with guests
Troubleshoot and problem-solve issues and concerns that arise with guests, staff or day to day operations.
Deeply understand the organization's values and model of operations to ensure fidelity and consistent services that center
Coordinate and approve work schedules and timesheets
Attend Manager's meetings and agency-wide retreats
Provide on-call coverage for shifts along with shelter staff
Engage in cross training with other managers and Support Staff to ensure a clear understanding of all organizational systems and programs.
Be part of a supportive management team that covers for each other and supports each other in taking time off.
Engage in professional communication and relationship with neighbors and partners.
Prepare and submit various reports.
Identify and resolve workplace issues, including intrapersonal dynamics, tardiness, or absenteeism.
Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisor Skills
Assist with hiring new Support Staff in tandem with other members of the management team.
Ensure employees understand their duties and performance expectations.
Provide annual performance evaluations, including future goals.
Communicate essential information between management and employees.
Provide opportunities for growth and development through planning, coaching and feedback, rewards and recognition, and opportunities for learning and skill development.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
No educational requirement.
Previous managerial experience, preferably in a social service/non-profit, preferred.
Experience in direct service and community organizing is desirable; personal experience and understanding of the homeless population may be substituted.
Must successfully pass required background checks prior to an offer of employment.
2 years’ experience in direct service and community organizing; personal experience and understanding of homeless, physical, mental and substance use related health service systems preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must have a valid state driver’s license or ability to obtain one and willingness to disclose driving record.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to lift, bend, stoop and climb.
Ability to converse with and listen to people in many different settings while maintaining focus.
Ability to use a computer and telephone, as well as other standard office equipment
Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
Ability to occasionally push, pull, lift and/or carry supplies up to 25 pounds
Work takes place in a social services environment where long periods of standing, working on a computer, walking to various work areas, and going up and down stairs
Ability to work in an environment where there may be animals present, including dogs
Saturday & Sundays 6am-5pm
