What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimator position at InterGlobal Exhibits (IGE)?
Role:
The Estimator collaborates throughout the company to support the bidding process by our sales department by creating estimates and proposals for all our designs, projects, and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare written proposals
- Develop a detailed description of the project elements and services.
- Create estimates from 3D Design and or blueprints.
- Calculate exhibit element costs for materials, supplies, and man-hours/labor.
- Develop service costs per project, including shipping, installation, dismantling, and electrical.
- Create change order estimates.
- Vendors RFP's (request for proposals)
- Communicate with vendors to obtain costs for proposals.
- Proposal timeline and deadlines
- New materials and vendor research
- Continuously maintain and update the estimating and costs catalog through our internal database.
- Recommend the most cost-efficient materials and fabrication methods.
- Work directly with the sales team on estimates and proposal requirements.
- Create a bill of materials and vendor list for each estimate after the project is sold.
- Manage markups
- Maintain the internal estimating schedule for projects.
- Assist with material purchasing if required.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Experience estimating custom design & fabrication projects
- CAD user is a plus.
- Strong computer skills.
- Understands methods of fabrication and man-hours required to build
- Excellent vendor relationships
- Able to read blueprints and 3D Design
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Advanced skills in blueprint reading.
