Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Bereavement Coordinator to join our hospice team, responsible for providing emotional support and guidance to families and individuals navigating the grieving process. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in bereavement, grief counseling, or hospice care, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with those experiencing loss.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Grief Counseling Sessions: Engage with families, caregivers, and others affected by the death of a patient, using empathetic and non-judgmental approaches to facilitate healing.
- Plan and Coordinate Bereavement Services: Develop and implement personalized bereavement plans tailored to the unique needs of patients' families, incorporating cultural sensitivity and individualized approaches.
- Facilitate Support Groups: Lead grief support groups for individuals and families, fostering a safe environment for sharing experiences and connecting with others who have faced similar losses.
- Develop and Distribute Resources: Create and disseminate bereavement resources and materials to families and the community, ensuring accessible information and ongoing support.
- Collaborate with the Interdisciplinary Team: Work closely with the hospice team to ensure holistic care, addressing the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients and their loved ones.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Education and Certifications: Certification in Grief Counseling or related certification (e.g., Certified Grief Counselor) is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience working in bereavement, grief counseling, or hospice care.
- Skill Set: Demonstrated knowledge of grief and loss theory, as well as counseling techniques; excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact with diverse populations.
