As a Certified Nursing Assistant, here's an overview of your role:
- Care for the personal care and hygiene needs of patients in facilities such as nursing homes, assisted living facilities, rehabilitation centers and hospitals
- Collaborate with a team of physicians, RNs, LPNs and aides to deliver exceptional patient care
- Assist with daily needs such as bathing, toileting, dressing, grooming, eating and nutritional intake
- Help with ambulation, transfers and range of motion exercises
- Monitor vital signs, measure intake/output, track blood glucose and document any changes
- Observe patient behavior and notify supervisor of issues requiring a change in care, medication or equipment
A few essential qualifications for CNAs:
- High school diploma (or equivalent)
- Active Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA) in Michigan
- Knowledge of state and federal healthcare laws and regulations
- Compassionate nature, effective communication and ability to lift up to 50 lbs
