Infusion RN – Full-Time

Schedule/Shifts: Full-Time, 40 hours/week, 8:00am - 4:30pm M-F. (12-14 week assignment)
Location: Maple Grove, MN
Pay rate: Up to $70 per hour, depending on experience!
*This is a temporary assignment filling in for a Leave of Absence starting in mid-February and expected to last 12-14 weeks!
Position Summary:
There are 16 chairs total that the team of 5-6 Infusion RNs will be covering. The Infusion RN will see about 8 patients per day and will have the clinic schedule the day prior. Infusions are typically done by 4pm, and the last 30 minutes are designated for clean up and documentation/paperwork. Patient populations consist of primarily Oncology, GI, Infectious Disease and Rheumatology.

What we ask of you:
- Proficient in administering intravenous (IV) medications, fluids and blood products.
- Strong understanding of infusion therapy protocols, medications and potential side effects, and ability to monitor patients for adverse reactions.
- Expertise in placing and maintaining peripheral and central venous catheters (PIV, PICC, CVC), and skilled in using infusion pumps, syringes and other related equipment.
- Identify and manage infusion-related complications or emergencies and ability to adjust infusion rates, change infusions or provide interventions as needed.
- Proficient in documenting infusion details in electronic health records (EHR), and maintain accurate and timely records of patient care/treatment plans.
- Provide education to patients and families on the purpose, process and potential side effects of infusion therapy.
- Effective communication with healthcare team members including physicians, pharmacists and other nurses.
- Knowledge of infection prevention protocols, and ensure patient and staff safety by following proper handling, storage and disposal of medications/equipment.
- Ability to manage multiple patients and infusion therapies simultaneously, and prioritize tasks effectively in a busy clinical environment.
- Participate in case discussions, care planning and team meetings.
- Adhere to state and federal regulations, including those related to medication administration and patient care standards, and stay up to date on infusion related guidelines/best practices.
- Various other tasks as assigned.
What we require of you:
- Current RN License in MN
- 1 year of experience completing infusions in a clinical setting, preferably in the areas of Oncology, GI infectious disease and Rheumatology.
- Chemotherapy Certification is preferred, but not required.
- Current BLS certification for health professionals through the American Heart Association or Red Cross required and maintained. *On-line BLS certification is not acceptable.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, including appropriate use of English grammar and spelling
- Demonstrated ability to function with multiple priorities and interruptions.
