What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accountant (Part-Time) position at Interior Community Health Center?
This position is responsible for oversight of the accounting systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
Experience
Two years recent experience in accounting. Cultural competence in working with diverse populations required.
Essential Functions:
- Report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to start working. Remain at work for their entire work schedule.
- Monitors and implements the day-to-day accounting operations including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger and payroll.
- Oversees the periodic adjusting journal entries and bank and account reconciliation.
- Coordinates grants including applications, reporting, compliance and due dates.
- Prepares reports, budgets, annual audit, and other financial and operational reports, projects, analyses, Requests for Proposals and Terms and Conditions.
- Reviews fees in conjunction with the budget at least annually and recommends revisions.
- Monitors contracts including maintaining spreadsheets, evaluations and all statutory grant compliance requirements.
- Remains current with standards of health care and assures compliance with accounting practices.
- Complies with center’s policies and procedures.
- Participates in meetings.
- Utilizes personal computer.
- Participates in continuous quality improvement activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
General accounting skills.
Proficiency with electronic accounting systems and practice management systems.
Proficiency with computer skills.
Thorough knowledge of common office equipment (copier, fax, printer, etc.).
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Strong analytical, attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Position is based in the City of Fairbanks; however, position responsibilities may require travel both within the Fairbanks North Star Borough (FNSB) and Denali Borough. Use of personal vehicle is required for travel; therefore, a valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance is required. Position may require working occasional evenings and weekends.
