Gas Controller I
Reports to: Storage Supervisor
Job purpose:
This position is for an entry-level gas controller with the necessary skills to learn and follow regulatory regulations, safety awareness training, and equipment skills to operate the LNG storage facilities and perform control center duties outlined by PHMSA regulations. This position works well with other team members. Performs duties as directed by the operations supervisor with supervision. Have the ability to become proficient in the operations of storage facilities. This position can identify system needs and potential deficiencies and identify Remedies to resolve them.
Duties and responsibilities
- Perform all work safely and follow standard operating procedures
- Be responsible for identifying safe work practices and procedures
- Demonstrate knowledge of PHMSA regulations related to duties and responsibilities
- Identify and assemble the correct tools and materials to accomplish daily work
- Maintain tools & equipment.
- Calibrate gas monitoring equipment
- Complete general control center, comfort station cleaning, and light control room maintenance.
- Light Snow removal or sanding.
- Become knowledgeable about the operation of IGU facilities.
- Complete written reports of inspections and daily work.
- Respond to emergencies such as fire, uncontrolled release of gas, system overpressure/under pressure, environmental spills within the facilities, and bring the site back to operating conditions
- Operate MS Office software, Google Docs, and Fastfields proficiently.
- Follow management of change policy.
- Execute company programs and initiatives.
- Perform routine inspections and reports on storage sites.
- Monitor transfers of LNG from trailers into LNG storage tanks.
- Identify and troubleshoot system control problems.
- Respond appropriately to system malfunctions.
- Shut down and start LNG storage sites safely and efficiently.
- Read and interpret process and instrument diagrams related to storage sites.
- Able to effectively communicate with, track & direct 3rd party transport drivers.
- Control and monitor LNG storage site components through HMI.
- Demonstrate knowledge of HMI, SCADA, and security system software used to operate storage site facilities.
Physical requirements:
The position requires sitting/standing for extended periods on a regular basis, as well as repetitive tasks.
Qualifications
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Documentation verifying identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
- Ability to speak, read, and write the English language.
- Obtain and maintain NON-COL DOT&PF physical/health card.
- Perform simple math.
- Operate hand and power tools.
- Be physically capable of occasionally lifting heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
- Complete all qualification training for this position.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $31.25 per hour
Expected hours: 60 per week
