Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Splicing Technician to join our team. The preferred candidate will be responsible for overseeing and performing fiber optic splicing and related activities to ensure the successful completion of our fiber optic projects. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to lead a team of technicians.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform fiber optic splicing, including cutting, connecting, and rearranging cables.
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of cable systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Identify and repair faults in cable systems, including signal problems and damaged cables.
  • Ensure all cables are properly grounded to prevent electrical shocks.
  • Perform tests to check the strength and consistency of cable signals.
  • Read and interpret cable line maps and plans.
  • Maintain accurate records of all installation, splicing, and repair work.
  • Adhere to safety standards and protocols to ensure the safe execution of all tasks.
  • Communicate with other team members, supervisors, and customers to provide updates and receive instructions.
  • Lead and mentor a team of splicing technicians, providing guidance and support as needed.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in fiber optics or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in fiber optic splicing and cable installation.
  • Strong knowledge of fiber optic splicing techniques and equipment.
  • Excellent manual dexterity, vision, and the ability to use technical equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
