The PT will act as a clinical leader, promoting professional excellence, teamwork and collaboration for the best care of the patient. The PT participates in clinical consultations and prevention efforts to keep employees healthy and reduce risk of injury. This role is primarily located at our on-site clinic at L.L.Bean but may include working at other InterMed locations, as needed.
The Workplace Health Services Department requires team members to have exceptional customer service and communication skills, along with strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills. The workplace health clinic environment is dynamic, with the needs of our employer client always evolving. This requires team members to be flexible and adaptable to the changing needs of our employer client including project participation, continuous improvement and / or occasional expanded work hours outside of the usual schedule.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
EVALUATION AND TREATMENT
- Provides evaluations including examining patients’ medical histories and then test and measure strength, range of motion, balance and coordination, posture, muscle performance, respiration and motor function.
- Plans and prepares, treatment plans describing strategy, purpose and anticipated outcome.
- Administers manual exercises, application of physical agents (i.e., ultrasound, electric stimulation), massage and traction.
- Evaluates effects of treatment at various stages and adjusts treatments to achieve maximum benefit often conferring with physician and other practitioners
- Teaches patients to use assistive and adaptive devices. Instructs patients on at-home exercises.
- Records evaluations, daily treatment notes, monthly progress notes and discharge summaries timely and completely.
- Maintains medical records through excellent documentation, utilizing an electronic medical record.
- Adheres to all documentation and regulatory requirements regarding billing and coding of care of patients .
- Discharges patients from services when goals or projected outcomes have been attained and provide appropriate follow up care or referrals.
- Keeps treatment areas clean, organized and unobstructed, cleans equipment after treatment.
- Maintains adequate supply of inventory and organizes treatment area.
