As a Technical Inspector, you will:
· Conduct off-hire, on-hire, in-service, and new production surveys on various equipment including dry cargo, refrigerated and tank marine containers, chassis, over-the-road generators, and trailers, adhering to AAR, IICL, and other industry standards.
· Assess and document the condition of equipment, making informed decisions to adjust repair estimates according to customer-agreed labor times and material costs.
· Negotiate repair costs with vendors to secure the best prices.
· Ensure all equipment meets safety standards, using sound judgment to reject any equipment that does not meet criteria.
· Stay informed about domestic and international regulations affecting intermodal equipment and apply this knowledge during inspections.
· Utilize the proper methods and tools for repairing and refurbishing intermodal equipment.
· Respond promptly to customer requests and report inspection results in a timely manner.
· Prepare accurate paperwork, conforming to customer requirements and company procedures.
· Safely operate a vehicle, adhering to ISS, customer, and state regulations.
· Complete damage estimate reports and make decisions on identifying damage.
Minimum Requirements:
· Ability to walk, stand, and climb in and out of trailers/containers using the "three points of contact method."
· Required one year of recent experience in the transportation industry (equipment surveying, repair shop estimates, intermodal operations, etc.).
· Valid Driver’s License with an approved MVR.
· High School Diploma or equivalency.
· Basic mathematical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and web-based data systems.
