HIGH VOLTAGE TRANSMISSION LINE ENGINEER

Compensation: $90,000.00 - $150,000.00 DOE
Overview:
ICPE is seeking a Transmission Line Project Engineer who can manage and design overhead power transmission and distribution line projects, can apply sound engineering principles and practices in project design, and make decisions independently on engineering approach and methods.
Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the department supervisor, accept all assigned projects, working as a fully competent lead engineer in all aspects of the project.
- Perform PLS CADD Modeling, develop plant and profiles, bill of materials, pole top assemblies, guy arrangements, steel pole design, loading trees, foundation design, route selection, system planning, analysis and design.
- Supervise, coordinate, and review work of designers and drafters on assigned work. If a Licensed Professional Engineer, seals and signs all documentation produced by own work.
- Preparation of construction specifications, structure and material specifications, engineering proposals, and development of project cost estimates. Provides procurement support and bid evaluation for purchase of transmission line components.
- Reviews design for compliance with engineering principles, industry codes and standards, customer requirements, and related specifications.
- Reviews material supplier drawings and submittals, and coordinates between vendor design and project drawings.
- May be required to travel occasionally and perform field support and investigation.
Requirements:
- B.S. degree in either Electrical or Civil/Structural Engineering from accredited institution
- Must be US citizen.
- 5 years engineering experience that includes overhead transmission and distribution line planning, analysis, calculations, and design. Transmission Line design experience up to 345kV is required.
- Professional Engineering (PE) License preferred, but not required
- Working knowledge and understanding of RUS, IEEE, NESC, NFPA, ANSI standards.
- Ability to take initiative, be accountable for individual and team results, and motivate self and others to set and achieve high performance standards.
- Ability to work in a team environment that requires communication and coordination with other engineering disciplines.
- Ability to balance multiple projects and a strong ability to meet project milestones and deliverable schedules.
- Work experience with consulting engineering firm.
- Technical writing skills necessary to prepare design documentation and specifications.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with customers regarding technical requirements.
- Ability to prepare technical presentations, project schedules, and project progress reporting.
- Proficiant with PLS-CADD, L-Pile, Bluebeam, MS Office software.
- Experience in underground transmission line design is preferred but is not required.
