Job Description
This position applies to the Athletic Trainer in the community youth or high school setting, with primary assignment to support the medical needs of assigned partners.
Provide medical coverage on-field and in-training rooms for injured athletes during practices and events. Duties may extend to assist other local high schools, community sporting events, and regional sporting camps/activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carries out rehabilitation programs independently after athlete evaluation and treatment plan establishment.
- Assesses and administers first aid to injured athletes during practices and sporting events, with documentation.
- Makes physician referrals as needed after evaluating injuries.
- Oversees Athletic Training room operations, ensuring supply levels, maximal coverage, and professional atmosphere.
- Communicates effectively with coaches, administrators, parents, athletes, physicians, therapists, and sports medicine team members.
- Maintains accurate records of evaluations, referrals, and treatments administered.
- Provides education and training on injury prevention and advocates for overall health literacy, nutrition, and mental health wellbeing.
- Participates in marketing strategies for Intermountain Sports Medicine Programs.
- Develops strong relationships with Key Stakeholders at assigned schools, including athletic directors, administrators, faculty, coaching staff, boosters, and parents.
- Facilitates care coordination for student athletes, parents, and stakeholders to ensure proper quality and service.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and professional environment at clinics and schools.
- Ensures proper return-to-play criteria are met before allowing athlete participation, prioritizing the best interest of the athlete.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Current State Licensure for Athletic Training.
- Credentialed as an Athletic Trainer through the Board of Certification (BOC).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of MS Office, MS Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in interpersonal relationships.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience as an Athletic Trainer at a college or university.
- Completion of a formal Athletic Trainer internship at a college or university.
Physical Requirements:
- Hearing/listening, lifting, manual dexterity, pulling/pushing, seeing, sitting, speaking, squatting/kneeling, standing, and walking.
