Job Description:
The Credentialing Specialist (CS) is responsible for facilitating Intermountain Healthcare and SelectHealths centralized credentials verification program and will serve as the primary credentialing liaison for hospitals, providers and/or network participating providers regarding credentialing services.
Scope
As a Credentialing Specialist (CS you need to know how to:
Incorporate accreditation and regulatory standards requirements into medical staff activities.
Coordinate application/reapplication process, responding to requests for initial application and verify privileging eligibility
Maintain the credentialing database with accurate and timely data
Request written verification of applicants education, experience, professional references, current and past licenses and insurance and professional liability claims history directly with the source for all applications
Review applicant qualifications for eligibility for specific delineation of privileges
Maintain documentation of continuing medical staff education.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from High School or equivalent, required
- Knowledge of medical terminology required.
- Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) within five (5) years of employment preferred
- Minimum of one year experience in administrative work, preferred.
- Experience as a medical staff coordinator, medical staff credentials specialist or privileging coordinator, preferred.
- One year experience in healthcare, legal or insurance environment, preferred
