Job Description:
Provides nutrition services to patients utilizing standardized guidelines. This position interacts with clinical caregivers, patients, and patient’s family members to explain the meal process and modify meal selections according to provider orders.At Intermountain, we are not your standard institutional hospital food. We currently have some Full Time (26 hours per week), Part Time (24 hours per week), & PRN (on call, as needed) openings! The Culinary Diet Technician position provides Bedside Services or Expeditor Services. See the differences below:
Bedside Position
- Bedside Position
- Availability needed: Sunday-Saturday 7:00am-8:00pm
- Work Shift: 12hr shifts (7:00 am - 8:00 pm)
- Assists in meal selection for patients as established by standard guidelines
- Records and modifies patient meal orders based on physician diet orders and Intermountain Modified Diet Guideline
- Works with the clinical team to provide excellent patient care
- Uses technology and meal ordering platform to facilitate the nutrition care process and needed departmental reports
- Communicates patient needs to room service assembly area
- Performs functions of room service call center and Bedside Connect
- Provides exceptional customer service in all customer and patient interactions
- May complete calorie count and nutrition analysis as dictated by facility
- Check and verify that patients receive appropriate meal selections on the room service line
- Delivers patient trays according to department policy to provide safe and efficient meal service
- Other duties as assigned
Expeditor Position
- Expeditor Position
- Availability needed: Sunday-Saturday 5:00am-8:30pm
- Shift Assignment Lengths: 4 hours, 6 hours, or 8 hours
- Ensuring communication in the kitchen by calling out orders, getting the status on dishes, and calling room service staff to deliver trays.
- Informing the room service staff when certain dishes or ingredients have run out and passing food requests from the call center to room service.
- Ensuring that all orders are completed in time and with the correct priority.
- Keeping the storage and prep areas clean, neat, and well-stocked.
- Ensuring all staff adheres to health and safety standards.
- Handling complaints and looking for solutions.
- Ensures the efficient flow of orders.
- Ensure orders are being prepared with the correct priority.
- Assist in the final preparation of dishes.
- Check dishes before delivery for accuracy and presentation.
- Inspect the premises according to quality and sanitation standards and assist in cleaning.
- Transfer important information between the kitchen and the room service staff.
- Food prep as needed.
- Support other tasks as needed

Each role has the following Minimum Qualifications:
- Food Handler Permit (as required by State) or ServSafe certification is required by first day of work. (Remote caregivers exempt)
- Demonstrated ability to work with modified diets (preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service (preferred)

Physical Requirements
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
- Frequent interactions with customers that require employee to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
- Remain standing for long periods of time to perform work.
- Tolerate extremes in temperature such as performing work at a grill or in a refrigerator and tolerate exposure to cleaning chemicals.
