Job Description
The Mammography Technologist performs radiographic mammography procedures, producing high-quality diagnostic films for breast tissue abnormality detection. This position requires independent judgment, creativity, and initiative, working with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares patients for exams.
- Performs radiologic mammography exams, including advanced procedures like stereotactic biopsies, clip placements, drainages, etc.
- Demonstrates positioning competency.
- Provides knowledge on breast self-examinations via answering questions and providing written materials to patients.
- Operates mammographic equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
- Uses radiation protection to ensure patient and staff safety, meeting ALARA program requirements.
- Stays current on new procedures and equipment to maintain high skill levels.
- Maintains records required by JCAHO and the Utah State Bureau of Radiation Control.
- Completes all required documentation, including time stamps and image storage.
Requirements:
- ARRT registration.
- Current Rad Tech license in the state of practice.
- Meets and maintains mammography-specific ACR & FDA/MQSA requirements.
- Meets and maintains ARRT Advanced Mammography Certification.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers.
