Network Engineer

Job Description:

The Network Engineer - Staff supports the stable operation of the in-house computer network (LAN/WAN). This includes installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links while ensuring network availability. The person diagnoses, resolves, and documents network problems and their solutions.Staff-level professional experienced in all aspects of networking and technology. Encompasses full knowledge required within the networking area. Functions independently with minimal oversight and direction. May instruct and guide other technical professionals.

Job Essentials

• Assists with installation, configuration, testing, maintainance, monitoring and troubleshooting networked peripheral devices, cabling, and networking hardware and software products.
• Assists with maintaining all network hardware and equipment, including switches, wireless, DHCP and UPSs.
• Monitors and tests network performance and provides network performance statistics and reports.
• Receives and responds to incoming calls, pages, and/or e-mails.
• Assists with performing on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex network problems for a variety of end users. Recommends and implements corrective hardware and software solutions, including off-site repair.
• Assists with scheduling and performing network improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
• Performs network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory.
• Prepares, maintains, and adheres to procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring network data.
• Provides training and support to client services staff on network issues.
• Provides guidance to other members of the team as required.
• Performs data closet management.
• Assists with network deployment and configuration.
• Collaborates with network architects to ensure compliance with network standards.
• Participates in 24/7 on-call rotation.
• Prepares and ensures accuracy of documentation.
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science/information management/engineering. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.

Four years of experience in a network engineering related field.

Three years of networking experience, or any combination of equivalent education in experience in computer science, information management, or related engineering field

- and -

Demonstrated working technical knowledge of LAN/WAN/Wireless networking.

- and -

Demonstrated working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards.

- and -

Hands-on troubleshooting experience.

- and -

Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

- and -

Demonstrated knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.

Preferred Qualifications

ITIL certification.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$35.29 - $55.57
