The Surgical Technologist performs various duties as a member of the surgical team to ensure a safe and successful operative procedure. This role functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and directly reports to Surgical Services management.
Responsibilities include supporting system-wide and surgical operations initiatives and practices, actively participating in the surgical operations safety plan, and adhering to established guidelines and protocols.
This position is available in multiple locations within the Intermountain Health network, including American Fork Hospital, Orem Community Hospital, Spanish Fork Hospital, and Utah Valley Hospital. Opportunities are available for full-time, part-time, and PRN/On Call needs.
The Surgical Technologist will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care. The role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred qualifications include active National Certification as an OR Tech in Surgery or Certified Surgical Technologist. Certification is expected within a specified timeframe after hire.
Physical requirements include ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, sterile indicator tags, colors, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors require verbal communication, hearing, and understanding spoken information quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
