Job Title: Ultrasound Technician
Summary:
The Ultrasound Tech provides excellent customer service by performing ultrasound examinations under the direction of a physician to identify abnormalities leading to patient diagnosis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure proper patient identification, verify orders, and prepare patients for exams.
- Use proper imaging techniques to ensure timely, safe, and high-quality diagnostic exams.
- Perform exams on all ages of patients (neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics) using appropriate protocols and following ACR guidelines.
- Demonstrate proficiency on all clinical equipment within the department.
- Complete and annotate medically acceptable exams, following ACR guidelines, while producing maximum diagnostic information in minimal time.
- Follow protocol for medical necessity, coding, and charging; obtain consents if necessary; document events; maintain quality; and report equipment failures or problems.
- Exhibit good safety practices in body substance protection, cleaning of equipment, and sterile techniques.
- Accurately complete all required documentation, including time stamps and image storage.
Shift Details:
- PRN position (on-call/as needed)
- Expected coverage: Days/swings, weekdays/weekends, on-call shifts, and holiday rotation.
Qualifications:
- ARRT Registry or ARDMS Registry with successful completion of one registry pertinent to the department beyond physics.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ultrasound experience.
