Job Description:
As a volunteer within Kids Crew, you will be providing patients and families with positive experiences by playing age-appropriate games, help with craft projects, sanitize toys and other assignments that offer a safe and healing space for patients of all ages from inpatient and outpatientUPDATE: Intermountain Healthcare requires ALL volunteers to receive the COVID vaccination before starting to volunteer.
Current shift needs are as follows:
Monday 3-6p
Wednesday 9-12a, 12-3p, 3-6p
Saturday 10-1p, 1-4p
Sunday 10-1p, 1-4p

Kids Crew is at the heart of working with children. As a volunteer within Kids Crew, you will be providing patients and families with positive experiences by playing age-appropriate games, help with craft projects, sanitize toys and other assignments that offer a safe and healing space for patients of all ages from inpatient and outpatient. Working with patients one on one to caregivers from all departments across the hospital, volunteers will offer support in whatever way possible through play.
We see families from all walks of life all with different backgrounds and unique health challenges. The mix of children, ages, and medical conditions is constantly changing throughout the day.
Volunteers offer an enthusiastic, caring environment while engaging children in age-appropriate games, activities, and crafts. Play helps reduce the anxiety and fear children may experience regarding clinic or hospital visits.
Volunteers assist in all tasks related to the playroom including maintaining toys and playroom supplies, distributing crafts, making deliveries, etc. Each day is different, and volunteers need to be able to respond well to a variety of responsibilities and assignments in the playroom.
Shifts are 3 hours in length. Volunteers sign up for a three hour shift each week, the commitment is for 6 months or 80 hours.
Some shifts may be full and not adding additional staff at this time. Volunteers will be selected based on availability and qualifications.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Able to commit to 6 months of volunteering.
- Able to follow and execute instructions
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Able to work with children in varying age groups
- Able to work well with diverse populations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Sensitive to patient and family situations / dynamics
- Maintain and respect professional relationships
