Yellowstone Retail is looking for friendly, enthusiastic, and passionate employees to provide unforgettable guest service to our employees and visitors in our retail shops. We operate and maintain eleven retail outlets throughout the park. We don't sell souvenirs, we sell memories!
Job Summary:
Retail management involves overseeing the retail operation at a designated location while ensuring exceptional guest service in line with Xanterra’s hospitality standards. Responsibilities include training staff on sales techniques, maintaining cleanliness and organization of the sales floor, managing inventory and records, and fostering collaborative relationships with management and support staff. In this position, you will also be required to comply with cash handling policies, environmental practices, and safety protocols.

Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities
- Oversee retail operations and ensure adherence to Xanterra’s hospitality standards for excellent guest service
- Enforce cash handling policies among sales associates and maintain accurate shop records, including payroll and inventory control
- Train staff on effective sales techniques, including suggestive selling and add-on sales, while monitoring performance
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sales floor and displays according to the Visual Merchandising Manual
- Provide accurate information to guests and address concerns with the Location Manager or appropriate support staff
- Report issues such as shrinkage and guest problems promptly to management
- Schedule, supervise, and develop gift shop personnel, providing regular feedback through evaluations
- Ensure compliance with environmental management systems and maintain a safe work area, including proper rotation of perishable items
Qualifications
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Knowledge of MI9 POS system is preferred and ability to troubleshoot common problems
- Able to perform all duties of a Sales Associate (accurate with cash handling, daily reporting procedures and inventory control)
- Able to coach employees to maintain high and consistent standards in the gift shop
- Thorough understanding of a retail operation in a high traffic seasonal environment
- Able to foster cooperation among a diverse workforce. Work well with all staff members
- Basic knowledge and understanding of souvenirs, gifts, jewelry and other products sold within Yellowstone National Park
- Able to work with a minimum of supervision
- Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality
- Demonstrate excellent sales approach and skills
- Demonstrate awareness of general gift shop security and theft prevention
Physical Requirements include:
- Able to stand/walk for a minimum eight-hour shift
- Frequently lift and carry cartons weighing up to 50 lbs
- Carry boxes/product up and down stairs at most locations several times a day
- Must be able to bend down or kneel to stock product frequently during a shift
- Able to work at high elevations (6,000 to 8,000 feet above sea level)
