Job Summary

Duties
- Process and submit medical billing claims to insurance companies and government payers.
- Utilize coding systems such as ICD-9 and ICD-10 to ensure accurate representation of diagnoses and procedures.
- Review patient medical records for completeness and accuracy in relation to billing.
- Manage accounts receivable, including follow-up on unpaid claims and handling medical collections.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve billing discrepancies and ensure timely payment.
- Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations, coding practices, and insurance policies.
- Maintain organized records of all billing transactions and communications with patients and insurers.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or a related role within a medical office setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, DRG (Diagnosis Related Group), ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding systems.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and other healthcare software.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance representatives.
- Proficient in handling sensitive information while maintaining confidentiality.
- Certification in medical billing or coding is preferred but not required.
- Working collections and creating payment plans for patients.
