Job Description
We are seeking candidates for Tax Examining Clerks/Technicians in the IRS Taxpayer Services Division.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research and analyze tax issues, including obtaining required information for correction of accounts and records.
- Verify, analyze, and adjust taxpayer accounts.
- Secure payment of delinquent taxes and file delinquent returns.
- Determine financial, levy source, adjustment, and uncollectible information; advise taxpayers of appeal procedures.
- May serve as a technical advisor, OJT coach, classroom instructor, or reviewer, providing technical assistance on systemic problems and inconsistencies in IRMs.
Qualifications:
- General experience includes progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the competencies needed to perform the duties of the position.
- Specialized experience includes researching and processing financial documents, reviewing information and determining corrective action on accounts, and reviewing financial documents submitted for completeness.
- Federal experience is not required to qualify for any grade level.
