Position Summary

This position will broadly support IACP efforts, and specifically, support one of the following grant-funded initiatives:

  • Behavioral Health and Public Health Law Enforcement Training and Technical Assistance Initiatives
  • Collaborative Reform Initiative – Technical Assistance Center (CRI-TAC)
  • Officer Safety and Wellness Initiatives

Job Responsibilities

Working with IACP staff, project partners, and stakeholders, the Project Manager(s) will:

  • Manage all aspects of the project to ensure scope of work, promise deliverables, and time frames are met
  • Develop, evaluate, revise, and update project materials such as publications, magazine content, online resources, curricula, training materials, guidebooks, educational handouts, timelines, membership / attendee acquisition pieces and fliers
  • Develop and deliver in-person and/or online training and technical assistance
  • Identify, prepare, support, evaluate and manage contracting and reimbursement processes for consultants, trainers, sub-recipient organizations, vendors and subject matter experts
  • Identify key partners, agencies, and collaborators in the field; build and manage these partnerships
  • Manage, lead, and grow staff members
  • Build and sustain relationships with police leaders to enhance project work and understanding of the profession whom we serve
  • Coordinate and conduct outreach to law enforcement agencies and criminal justice partners to promote participation in projects and events, gather information, and identify promising practices
  • Facilitate meetings, trainings, group discussions, and other events attended by law enforcement, subject matter experts, and criminal justice partners
  • Manage budget creation and development and support budget tracking and invoicing in accordance with IACP and federal guidelines
  • Organize and track details of project-related meetings and events including expenditures, logistics, and programmatic information
  • Maintain ongoing and effective communication with the project team, staff members, partners, and funding agencies
  • Coordinate and conduct educational presentations about the program and its resources: represent the program at events and before relevant groups
  • Other duties as assigned

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field three (3) years of related job experience OR Master's degree two (2) years of related job experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and other relevant business software
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Analytical skills to include ability to troubleshoot problems from multiple perspective
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Strong penchant for collaboration and teamwork
  • Critical thinking and decision-making skills
  • Solid task prioritization, organization, and time management skills, and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated skill in managing staff and projects
  • Ability to create and manage a budget, accounting for and preserving project resources

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with and understanding of policing
  • Experience with and knowledge of grant-funded efforts
  • Experience in a non-profit organization, association, or criminal justice environment

Special Conditions and Work Environment

  • Travel will be required based on job responsibilities
  • These are grant-funded positions for which continuation funding will be sought
  • Work takes place primarily in an office environment
  • Light lifting, bending, and reaching may be required
