Overview
We are seeking an experienced AWS Architect to join our team for a high-impact federal project located in the District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia (DMV) area. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing, implementing, and managing secure, scalable, and resilient AWS cloud solutions, with a proven track record supporting federal clients and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and architect AWS cloud solutions tailored to federal agency requirements, ensuring security, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Lead cloud migration and modernization initiatives, including assessment, planning, and execution.
- Develop and maintain cloud architecture documentation, diagrams, and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with federal security standards (e.g., FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including security, DevOps, and application development, to deliver integrated solutions.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to project teams and stakeholders.
- Evaluate and recommend AWS services and third-party tools to optimize performance and cost.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud infrastructure issues.
- Stay current with AWS advancements and federal cloud policies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 10 years of hands-on experience architecting and implementing AWS solutions.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional) or equivalent certification.
- Experience supporting federal government clients and understanding of federal compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST).
- Strong knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, and CloudWatch.
- Proficiency in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools (e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform).
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional.
- Experience with hybrid cloud or multi-cloud environments.
- Background in application modernization, containerization (ECS, EKS, Docker), and serverless architectures.
- Prior experience with federal agency cloud migrations or large-scale government IT projects.
