The Service Advisor will assist the Service Manager in the daily operations of the service department, focusing on efficient scheduling, coordination between departments, and maintaining service work orders.
The individual will also support the supervision of shop and field mechanics, oversee their day-to-day activities, and help ensure the timely completion of service tasks. This role includes leadership responsibilities and the direct supervision of mechanics when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Service Manager with overseeing the daily operations of the service department, both in the shop and in the field.
- Supervise and guide shop and field mechanics to ensure work is performed efficiently, safely, and according to company standards.
- Create and manage work schedules for service technicians, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to meet customer and departmental needs.
- Maintain and manage service work orders within the ERP system, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely updates.
- Monitor service work orders to identify potential delays or issues and proactively resolve them with the Service Manager.
- Coordinate with other departments, including Parts, Rental, and Sales, to optimize service schedules and ensure smooth operational flow.
Act as the main point of supervision in the absence of the Service Manager:
- Addressing issues, guiding mechanics, and ensuring smooth operations.
- Communicate with customers as needed to provide updates, clarify service requests, or address concerns.
- Collaborate with the Service Manager to improve workflow, identify training needs for mechanics, and enhance overall service department efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role in a service department or similar setting, preferably in heavy equipment or a related industry.
- Strong organizational and scheduling skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment maintenance and repair procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working with ERP or work order management systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and collaborate with different departments.
