The position is responsible for assisting with awarding and cash management activities including return of Title IV calculations, credit balance review, reconciliation, third-party agency funding and student account activities. Positions assigned to this classification are a paraprofessional and will have a high technical knowledge of financial aid programs and procedures to independently assist campuses and other professionals over the phone and via electronic correspondence. The position requires analytical skills and the ability to work independently and with a sense of urgency. In addition, the position requires that all job responsibilities are completed accurately and compliantly in accordance with Title IV regulations.

Primary/Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Complies with all Federal, State, accreditation and institutional policies and procedures.
  • Post all charges, receipts, funds and refunds to student accounts.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of student account balances.
  • Performs Return of Title IV calculations in compliance with federal regulation.
  • Ensures all refunds are posted and processed by required due dates.
  • Performs Title IV credit balance review and schedules refunds accordingly.
  • Process timely adjustments to institution loans.
  • Complete Cash Management month end processes.
  • Review accuracy of VA Education Benefit payments and debt letter processing.
  • Ability to post Title IV refunds to account ledger.
  • Agency invoicing and collections.
  • Enforce corporate refund policy to ensure compliant with state and federal regulations.
  • Maintains knowledge of Title IV awarding and cash management rules and regulations.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers
  • Other duties as assigned.

Key Success Factors

  • Prior knowledge of Title IV eligibility, awarding and disbursement regulations and processes.
  • Works with a sense of urgency and responsiveness to students and co-workers.
  • Demonstrate the willingness and ability to complete additional training opportunities as assigned by the Student Finance leadership Achieves a consistent 96% accuracy in awarding and disbursing Title IV aid.
  • Achieves a consistent 96% timeliness in processing the R2T4 calculations
  • Maintain least 80% on-time portfolio performance for an assigned group of schools on all institutional loans and cash payment plans.
  • Submit 100% of all bad debt collection accounts to collections agencies by the 15th of every month.

Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience

  • At least 1 year of experience in a financial aid department of an accredited college or university with direct responsibility for processing Title IV activities, programs and funding preferred.
  • Associate’s degree or comparable work experience required. Bachelor’s degree with coursework in math, business, finance, auditing or accounting preferred.
  • Excellent customer service, oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially MS Excel
  • Ability to meet deadlines and execute multiple priorities.
