The Community Engagement & Media Manager will play a key role in strengthening the Afghan community in St. Louis through proactive engagement and dynamic media strategies. This individual will oversee community outreach initiatives, social media management, production of the monthly Afghan Journal, and other outreach efforts. The position requires a forward-thinking, creative individual who is dedicated to building a vibrant and cohesive Afghan community while promoting Afghan culture and supporting local Afghan businesses.

- Fluent in English, Pashto, and Dari (both written and spoken), with excellent writing and editing skills in English and ability to proofread articles in Pashto and Dari. (Required)
- Oversee and manage the Afghan community's social media presence, developing strategies to promote Afghan culture, local events, businesses, and community engagement.
- Oversee the production, publication, and content management for the Afghan Journal, ensuring timely, high-quality, and engaging content including writing the articles on monthly basis.
- Capture and produce photos and videos for marketing, social media, and community outreach purposes.
- Develop, implement, and manage community programs and events that address the needs of the Afghan community.
- Coordinate and manage cultural celebrations, business networking events, and educational workshops, ensuring community involvement and support.
- Assist in securing sponsorships and manage fundraising efforts.
- Recruit, coordinate, and manage volunteers and interns.
- Proficient MS Office skills (Word, Excel and Outlook);
- Good knowledge of WordPress for website management and content posting.
- Good knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop) and Canva for graphic design and publications.
- Demonstrate creativity and documented immersion in social media, with in-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms
- Strong understanding of user-generated content management, content marketing and reputation management
- Ability to develop and manage marketing campaigns, including creating a content calendar.
- Strong interpersonal skills, team-oriented, and able to build relationships within the Afghan community and beyond.
- Proven experience in program development, community outreach, and volunteer management.
- Knowledge of Afghan culture and community dynamics, with a passion for promoting Afghan culture and businesses.
- Exceptional attention to detail and time management skills, including ability to juggle multiple responsibilities and shifting priorities while meeting deadlines
- Experience with event planning and coordination, particularly for cultural or community-based events.
- Photography and videography skills for creating content that promotes the Afghan community and its businesses.

- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in community engagement, outreach, or public relations.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful community engagement strategies.
- Experience working with diverse populations and building strong community partnerships.
- Experience in event planning and execution.
- Experience with social media management and content creation.
