Status of Appointment : Permanent (Malaysian only)
Basic salary : between RM6,210.00 to RM14,370.00 (depends on experience)
Area of specialization : Building Science and Architectural Heritage
Department : Architecture
Kulliyyah (Faculty) : Kulliyyah of Architecture and Environmental Design
Location : Gombak
The officer should also undertake moral and religious obligations in relation to his colleagues and students as part and parcel of his duties as a member of the academic staff of IIUM.
The officer shall attend meetings of IIUM Authorities, Boards and Committees to which he, being an academic staff member, may be appointed as a member by virtue of the IIUM Constitution or any Statutes or Acts, or of any administrative actions of the Rector, Dean or Head of the Kulliyyah/Centre/ Department.
The officer is also expected to participate in the general life of the IIUM community.
The officer is also expected to advise and guide students in relation to their character, behaviour and moral conduct. In short, he is not only a teacher (Mu'allim), a scholar ('Alim) but also a moral educator (Murabbi).

3. Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, and studio-based learning in Architecture and Built Environment related disciplines
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students in research and design projects
- Provide leadership, guidance and advisory role to undergraduate and postgraduate students in the coordinating the design studio projects, student competitions and visits.
- Collaborating with other academics and lecturers to improve teaching methods and expand knowledge base.
- Setting questions, evaluating and grading assignments, tests, and exams.
- Conducting high-quality research aligned with the department’s focus areas and publish in high-impact journals.
- Actively engage in curriculum development, ensuring alignment with IIUM’s mission and Islamic values.
- Participate in industry collaborations, consultancy projects, and community-based programs
- Contribute to administrative tasks such as student advisement, committee work, and faculty meetings
- Support departmental initiatives, events, and accreditation processes.
- Attending and participating in meetings, conferences, and other events in and outside of the institution.
- Providing support to students and other colleagues. m. Staying current by reading widely and producing published work in the field.
- Minimum Qualifications
- PhD in Architecture or a related field in the Built Environment from a recognised local or international institution of higher learning
- A must of having a professional Architecture qualification equivalent to LAM Part II and registered with Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (LAM)
- Professional qualification with LAM Part III is an advantage
- Membership in ILAM (Corporate, Associate, or Graduate Member) is preferred
- Teaching, lecturing and student supervision experience are an added advantage
- A strong design portfolio is a must with added research publications in high-impact journals.

- Preferably a Malaysian citizen
6. Language Qualifications
All candidates must have obtained:-
- Credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English Language (including oral examination) at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level OR equivalent qualification recognized by the Government (for Malaysian citizens).
- IELTS Band 6 / MUET Band 4. Candidate without any of these qualification will be required to sit for the IIUM English Language Proficiency Test.
