Job Title:
Aide to Students with Disabilities
Primary Purpose:
To provide support and assistance to students with disabilities in a classroom setting, helping them meet their physical and instructional needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials and maintaining a neat and orderly classroom.
- Help manage the behavior of assigned students, including those with extreme or dangerous behaviors that pose a risk to themselves or others.
- Work with students to develop motor skills and conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher.
- Supervise and assist assigned students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom.
Requirements:
- 48 earned college credits (Associate's degree preferred) or a high school diploma if formal academic assessment is passed.
- Two years of experience working with children.
- Ability to work with children with disabilities, follow verbal and written instructions, and communicate effectively.
Working Conditions:
This role requires frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting. You will also be exposed to noise, biological hazards, and variable temperatures. It is essential to maintain emotional control under stress and work with frequent interruptions.
