Job Description
This position is for the 2024-2025 school year. The starting salary is $29,740.
The starting amount includes a $7,000 Level 3 stipend and a $3,000 late hire bonus to be paid out across remaining checks.
Primary Purpose
Support the physical and instructional needs of individual students with disabilities inside and outside the classroom.
Assist in implementing classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management, and instruction programs.
Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
- A minimum of 48 earned college credits or an associate's degree.
Special Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to work with children with disabilities.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
Experience:
- Two years of experience working with children.
Instructional Support
- Help the teacher prepare instructional materials and classroom displays.
- Maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
- Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
- Assist the teacher in keeping administrative records and preparing required reports.
- Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
Student Management
- Support the individual needs of assigned students, including transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting and positioning, interpreting instructions, and assisting with physical needs and personal care.
- Manage the mild behavior of assigned students, including providing verbal de-escalation when needed.
- Recognize and adapt to differences in students' special medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs.
- Work with assigned students or small groups to develop motor skills and conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher.
- Supervise and assist assigned students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom.
- Keep the teacher informed of special needs or problems of assigned students.
Other
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Participate in professional development programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
Frequent walking and reaching.
